Ayanokouji: The Menace

Okay, first I want to make it clear that if you have not seen season 2, episode 12 PLEASE CLICK AWAY. First, go watch that masterpiece of an episode, and then come back. Now then shall we continue?

Kiyotaka “Kiyo-pon” Ayanokouji
Season 2, episode 12 was everything I hoped it would be and more. The episode picks up right where the last one left us. Mr. Dragon Boy is a total sadistic person and tortures Karuizawa. I mean the man had his little groupies straight-up waterboarding her half the time. We also do get a bit more info on how Karuizawa sees herself and even more confirmation that she was bullied a lot in her past.

Kei Karuizawa

The scene then cuts to Ayanokouji leaving the group that he was going to the movies with and meeting up with Chabashira in the classroom. He lets Chabashira know that something is happening today with Karuizawa that will change class D’s fate and needs her attention. At first, Chabashira thought this was him asking for help; our main G Ayanokouji quickly corrects her mistake by basically asking “Don’t you wanna see how I’m going to deal them?” and then proceeds to walk away like a total badass. Now right before we got to the part that everyone was waiting for we did see one more familiar face which was the formal student council president Manabu. Ayanokouji made a deal with him, that If Manabu acted as a witness and cleaned up the aftermath then Ayanokouji would get his sister into the student council.

The Rooftop?

Now to the part that everyone was waiting for….. which was not on a rooftop?? So in the LN (light novel), everything that happens from here on out happens on a rooftop, hence why everyone in the Crunchyroll comments section for every previous episode kept saying “The rooftop scene”. With that being said, I for one gladly welcomed the change. First I do like it when an anime sticks to its roots. However, when it comes to animating something and making it come alive; there are so many ways to make a scene feel a certain type of way with the environment, music, sound effects, and so forth. In this case, the darkness that filled that empty construction room really worked in making Ayanokouji feel like a freaking menace.

I am not going to go into that much detail because I think everyone should just go and see that amazing fight scene. But let me say this, the boy got them hands. Also, finally seeing people’s reactions to Ayanokouji’s abilities was the greatest feeling ever. Hell, both Karuizawa and Ibuki were straight-up dumbfounded by the sight. During the fight we also get to see Mr.Dragon Boy’s past for a brief moment and why he thinks the way he does. In his world, “ABSOLUTE” violence is always the answer which feels like a direct contrast to Ayanokouji’s manipulative and tactical mindset. You can even see that difference within their fighting style; while Mr.Dragon Boy was made and created through the many fights he’s been in; Ayanokouji is a true martial artist.

The Wrap Up

Lastly, once the fight was over and he had put fear into Mr.Dragon Boy; we see him go to Karuizawa and confirm that yes he was using her. But at the end of the day even if she does not forgive him, he will still keep his promise to protect her no matter what. I obviously left a good amount of detail out that happened during that fight scene; how like this was all a setup through Ayanokouji’s planning. Like I said at the beginning if you have not seen this episode then go watch it, hell If you have not seen the anime go watch the whole thing! The anime is beyond good and if you are looking for a badass MC that gets things done and that is a total menace then this is the anime for you.

The Verdict

I give this anime 10/10 Menaces.
